The premier event of thoroughbred horse racing, The Kentucky Derby is held on the first Saturday of May each year in Louisville, Kentucky. Known as “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” The Derby is a must see special event. From May 3-6, 2012, come experience the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby and all its great tradition. Recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the “top ten events to experience in a lifetime,” the Kentucky Derby is the leading stakes race for three-year-old thoroughbred horses. One of the oldest continuously-held sporting events in the world, the “Run for the Roses” was first contested back in 1875 and has enjoyed many special horses including Secretariat and Seattle Slew. Your tour includes all that you need to explore and appreciate this great majestic sport: special tours at horse farms, knowledgeable speakers to help you better understand thoroughbreds, and attentive staff.
